01 Acceptance of terms

Welcome to Ceremono. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ceremono platform, marketplace, and shop, operated by Ceremono, Inc. ("Ceremono", "we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms.

If you don't agree, please don't use Ceremono.

The short version You can use Ceremono to plan events, hire vendors, and order printed goods. We hold payments in escrow until the work is delivered. Vendors get paid 9.4% less than what customers pay. Be honest, be kind, and we'll all have a good time.

02 About Ceremono

Ceremono provides three integrated services:

The Platform
Event-planning tools โ€” invitations, RSVP forms, guest lists, seating planning.
The Marketplace
A directory of vetted vendors (photographers, venues, florists, etc.) you can browse, quote, contract, and pay through Ceremono.
The Shop
Printed goods and favors designed in-house and shipped from our New Jersey studio.

When you hire a vendor through the marketplace, the legal service contract is between you and the vendor. Ceremono facilitates the introduction, contract, and payment, but we are not a party to the underlying service. The shop is different โ€” shop orders are fulfilled by Ceremono directly.

03 Eligibility

To use Ceremono you must be:

  • At least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction).
  • Capable of entering a binding contract.
  • Not barred from using Ceremono under applicable law or by a previous termination of your account.

Vendors must additionally be operating a legitimate business with any required licenses, insurance, and permits for the services they offer.

04 Your account

Registration

You need an account to book vendors, place shop orders, or list a business. Provide accurate information and keep it current.

Security

You are responsible for your account and everything that happens under it. Keep your password confidential. Notify us immediately at security@ceremono.com if you suspect unauthorized access. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication.

One person, one account

Each person may keep one personal customer account. Vendors may operate one business account per legal entity. Sharing accounts or transferring them without permission is prohibited.

05 Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use Ceremono for any illegal, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
  • Post or transmit malware, phishing links, or anything that disrupts the service.
  • Harvest data about other users, scrape pages, or reverse engineer any part of the platform.
  • Impersonate another person or business.
  • Circumvent the platform to take vendor bookings off-platform after we connected you.
  • Submit fake reviews, manipulate ratings, or pay for testimonials.
  • Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users, vendors, or our team.
  • Resell access to Ceremono or use it on behalf of someone else without permission.

Violating these rules can result in immediate suspension, removal of content, forfeiture of escrowed funds (if you're a vendor at fault), and where appropriate, legal action.

06 Booking vendors

The booking flow:

  1. You request a quote from a vendor with your event details.
  2. The vendor responds with a quote and proposed contract terms.
  3. You accept, decline, or negotiate. Both parties sign the contract digitally.
  4. You pay the deposit (or full amount) into Ceremono escrow.
  5. The vendor delivers the service on your event date.
  6. We release the funds to the vendor (minus our fee) within 7 days.

The contract โ€” including specific deliverables, dates, refund policy, and any special terms โ€” is between you and the vendor. Ceremono provides a standard contract template; vendors and customers may negotiate amendments before signing.

07 Payments

All payments to vendors are processed through Ceremono. Direct off-platform payments to vendors you found through Ceremono violate these Terms.

Methods

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and ACH bank transfers via our payment processor (Stripe).

Currency & taxes

All prices on Ceremono are in US dollars. You are responsible for any applicable sales tax, which we calculate and add at checkout where required. International cards may incur conversion fees from your bank.

Failed payments

If a charge fails or is reversed, your booking or order may be paused. We'll notify you and give you 72 hours to provide an alternative method before cancelling.

08 Cancellations & refunds

Marketplace bookings

Refund eligibility depends on the vendor's policy stated in your signed contract. As a baseline, Ceremono honors:

  • Full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of booking.
  • 50% refund if you cancel more than 60 days before the event date (unless the vendor's contract is more generous).
  • No refund within 60 days of the event โ€” vendors have likely turned away other work.
  • Force majeure (illness, natural disaster) is handled case-by-case; we facilitate rescheduling first.

Shop orders

Personalized items (with names, dates, or custom artwork) are non-refundable once we begin production โ€” usually within 48 hours of order. Non-personalized items can be returned within 14 days of delivery in unused condition. We pay return shipping for defective items.

If a vendor doesn't deliver

If a vendor fails to deliver the contracted service, escrow ensures you keep your money. Open a dispute through Settings โ†’ Bookings โ†’ Report an issue within 14 days. We mediate; if unresolved, funds are returned to you.

09 Shop orders

Production & shipping

All shop items are produced in our Edison, NJ studio. Production times are listed on each product. Add transit time (1โ€“3 days East Coast ยท 5โ€“7 days West Coast via USPS Priority).

Proofs

Items requiring personalization (place cards, seating charts, save the dates) get a free digital proof within 24 hours. We do not begin printing until you approve the proof. If you don't approve within 5 business days, we proceed with the design as quoted.

Risk of loss

Risk of loss transfers to you when your order is handed to the carrier. If your package is damaged or lost in transit, contact us within 14 days and we'll work with the carrier to replace or refund.

International shipping

We ship to the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. International orders require a custom quote โ€” email shop@ceremono.com.

10 Vendor terms

If you operate a business listed on Ceremono, these additional terms apply:

Listing standards

  • All information on your profile must be accurate โ€” services, pricing, portfolio, certifications.
  • You must own the rights to all images in your portfolio, or have licenses to display them.
  • You must hold any business licenses, insurance, and permits required for your services.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers โ€” response within 48 hours minimum.
  • Honor signed contracts. Cancellations on the vendor side after a customer pays are treated as breach.

Exclusivity & non-circumvention

For 24 months after a customer first contacts you through Ceremono, all bookings with that customer must be processed through the platform. Side deals violate these terms and may result in:

  • Forfeiture of escrowed funds from other bookings.
  • Listing suspension or permanent removal.
  • Liability for our standard fee on the off-platform booking.

Reviews

Only customers who completed a booking through Ceremono can leave reviews. You may reply publicly to any review on your profile but cannot edit or remove the review itself. You may flag a review for our team to investigate if it violates our Community Guidelines.

We issue 1099-K forms to US-based vendors who exceed $5,000 in payouts per calendar year, in accordance with IRS rules.

12 Escrow

Customer payments are held by Ceremono in segregated escrow accounts (administered by Stripe Treasury) until the contracted event has occurred and the dispute window has passed. Funds in escrow:

  • Are not commingled with Ceremono's operating funds.
  • Are insured by FDIC partner banks up to applicable limits.
  • Earn no interest for either party.
  • Are returned to the customer if a dispute is found in their favor.

Ceremono retains the right to hold funds for up to 90 days post-event if a dispute is open, fraud is suspected, or a chargeback is initiated.

13 User content

You retain ownership of everything you upload to Ceremono โ€” event details, guest lists, portfolio photos, reviews, messages. By posting content, you grant Ceremono a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and use that content as needed to operate and improve the service.

You're responsible for content you post. Don't upload anything you don't have the right to share. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law, with or without notice.

14 Intellectual property

The Ceremono name, logo, design system, code, and all platform-original content are owned by Ceremono, Inc. and protected by copyright and trademark law. You may not copy, modify, or use them without our written permission, except as the platform's normal operation allows.

Template designs (invitations, place cards, seating charts) are licensed to you for personal or event use; reselling templates or claiming them as your own is prohibited.

If you believe content on Ceremono infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to dmca@ceremono.com.

15 Liability & disclaimers

Important These limitations are standard. Read them.

"As is" service. Ceremono is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific requirements.

Marketplace disclaimer. We vet vendors before listing but cannot guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any vendor's services. Bookings are at your own risk; the contract is between you and the vendor.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ceremono's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of $100 USD or the amount you paid Ceremono in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, or lost data.

Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold Ceremono harmless from any claim arising from your use of the service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.

16 Termination

You can leave anytime

Delete your account from Settings โ†’ Account โ†’ Delete. Active bookings or open shop orders must be completed or formally cancelled first.

We can terminate accounts

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms, that we reasonably believe are fraudulent, or that have been inactive for more than 3 years. We'll try to notify you first unless the situation is urgent.

What survives termination

Provisions that by their nature should survive (payments owed, indemnity, liability limits, dispute resolution, IP) continue after termination.

17 Disputes & governing law

Informal resolution first

If you have a dispute with Ceremono, contact legal@ceremono.com first. We'll try to resolve it within 30 days.

Binding arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, in Trenton, New Jersey. You waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action against Ceremono. Small-claims court is permitted for qualifying disputes.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

18 Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms when our service changes or when laws change. For material changes, we'll notify registered users by email at least 30 days before the new Terms take effect and post a notice on the platform.

Continued use of Ceremono after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree, you can close your account before then.
